The ‘house’ is a reoccurring metaphor in my work. As the stage on which our lives are played out, the house embodies a rich dichotomy of meaning that I employ as a deceptively innocent image. The sewing element, with its reference to femininity and nurturing, is subverted to create a more menacing and sinister presence. This juxtaposition begins to reveal the dueling realities and to deconstruct the culturally accepted norm of domestic culture as it relates to femininity and gender roles.
